Gender is not synonymous with gender identity. [...] Gender has the meaning given to sex in subdivision 15, when used alone to refer to males, females, or the natural differences between males and females. Gender is not considered a synonym or shorthand expression for gender identity, experienced gender, gender expression, or gender role.

Subd. 15. Sex. "Sex" means, when referring to a characteristic of an individual, the individual's biological sex, either male or female. Sex is not synonymous with gender identity

Female. "Female" means, when used to refer to an individual, an individual who naturally has, had, will have, or would have, but for a developmental or genetic anomaly or historical accident, the reproductive system that at some point produces, transports, and utilizes eggs for fertilization. [...] Girl. "Girl" means a minor human female [...] Mother. "Mother" means a female parent.
